Water Consumption Portal

Stay informed about your water consumption and help reduce the risk of extended leaks!

The Town of BWG has launched a new Water Consumption Portal for property owners to monitor their water consumption prior to receiving their water/ wastewater utility bill. The online portal also allows owners to set up email notifications when higher than normal water usage is detected at their property.

Before you get started

Here are a few things to keep in mind before creating your online account on our Water Consumption Portal:

  • Only one account is permitted per account and meter number so accounts are reserved for property owners only.
  • If you are a tenant, and wish to receive water usage data for your home, please speak to your landlord about adding you as a recipient of the usage notifications.
  • Multiple properties (account/meter numbers) can be configured under a single account, and nicknames can be configured to easily identify each property.
  • If you are registering using a mobile device, it may ask for a “security token provided by your utility." Please enter your water meter number in this field.

Click here to watch a tutorial video or follow an interactive tutorial to learn to navigate your Customer Portal.

Quick Tips:

  • To view your usage, select “Usage details” on the left side of the portal window. You can view usage details over a 24-hour, 7-day, 30-day or 12-month period. Please note that the portal will only show consumption data for up to 1 year, starting from June 2023.
  • If you own multiple properties you can set up nicknames to easily identify each property by selecting “Meters” on the left side of the portal.
  • If you own multiple properties or your property has multiple meters, you can add these accounts to your profile by selecting “User Settings” on the left side of the portal, followed by “Manage accounts” and “Add account”. You will need your utility bill for each account you wish to add.
Setting up alerts

To set up notifications to your email, select “Settings” followed by “Usage Alerts”  and complete the form to include your preferences.

Quick Tips:

  • Alerts can be set up for billing cycle (bi-monthly), daily, or multi-day usage (7 days), as well as for vacation alerts.
  • The portal provides you with averages for each alert type you set up to help select a reasonable value. If more water passes through your meter than you have indicated on the portal, you will receive an email notification.

When should you suspect a leak?

If you fill a pool and are aware of the higher than normal water usage, there is no reason for concern. But, if you spend the day outside of your home with no known water usage and can see that water is being used on that particular day, it would be worth checking for leaks and monitoring your usage over the next few days.

Although leaks can occur from faucets, water softeners, and other household equipment connected to water, the most common culprit for leaks are toilets.
