Hazards
-
Reduced visibility in heavy snow.
-
Total snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 cm.
-
Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour.
Storm and Snow Clearing Tips
- Move your car from the roadway and onto your driveway during winter storms, to allow the plows to clean the full width of the roadway.
- Clear a space at the left end of your driveway so that when the snow plow comes down your street, it pushes most of the snow into that cleared space and not at the end of your driveway.
- If using a shovel, bend at the knees and not at the back, and don’t pick up too much snow at once. Clear snow often versus letting it accumulate.
