Town of BWG Council Delivers a 2025 Budget that Supports Strategic Priorities and Prepares for Future Growth
After two days of deliberations, Town of BWG Council has reached a consensus on the 2025 budget, which includes a 2.70 percent property tax increase.
While Council committed to some program and service enhancements aligned with their strategic priorities, especially toward Community Safety and Traffic Congestion, they worked diligently to refine a budget that offers residents a minimal impact on their tax bill.
Mayor James Leduc and members of Council reviewed a wide array of requests from town staff and department heads. Initially presented as a 3.14 percent property tax increase, Council worked thoroughly through the budget and ultimately arrived at a more favorable adjustment of 2.70 percent.
"Maintaining the safety and infrastructure of our community, while delivering the services our residents expect, remains a top priority. Despite significant inflationary pressures and growing demand for new services, our Council has worked together to deliver a responsible, strategic budget. This reflects our commitment to fiscal stewardship, ensuring we meet the needs of our community while planning for a sustainable future, all while being mindful of the financial impact on our taxpayers." – Mayor James Leduc
Once the County of Simcoe approves its budget on November 26, 2024, the Town of BWG will share a further update with the community, outlining the final tax dollar distribution and the financial impact for the average household.
