On Wednesday, May 1, the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury (BWG) officially opened its doors to the New Youth Recreation Centre at 226 Colborne Street. The event marked a significant milestone for BWG’s youth programming with the new Centre offering a safe space for young people of the community to gather while accessing a variety of resources.
Mayor Leduc was joined by members of council, staff, and local youth and parents to celebrate this momentous occasion. The new space includes a games area with a foosball table, board games, and table tennis. The basement features a lounge area outfitted with a television, two game consoles, an air hockey table, and guitars for attendees to enjoy. There is also a computer lab, kitchen, quiet space, and administration area.
The former Lions Park Building has been a pillar to BWG for nearly 50 years, and its $570,000 transformation offers our youth a revitalized and friendly place to explore outside of their home and school environments.
The New Youth Recreation is sure to be a place of acceptance and inclusion where local youth can come together to connect while accessing the resources they need to thrive.
