2024 marks 100 years of service for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) as a distinct military element.
In celebration of this momentous event, the Town of BWG and the BWG Public Library are proud to present a local week-long RCAF Centennial celebration from June 10-14, 2024.
BWG’s RCAF Centennial celebration features a flight simulator, films, a panel discussion, a community parade, and more!
“BWG is proud to participate in the nationwide celebration of our Royal Canadian Air Force’s centennial anniversary. I encourage our community to join us throughout our local week-long event to commemorate the RCAF’s history, heritage, and accomplishments over their 100 years in service.” – Mayor James Leduc.
The RCAF Centennial is an opportunity to showcase Air Force personnel and their accomplishments, demonstrate air and space power, enhance the reputation of the RCAF, and proudly honour its distinguished history and heritage.
“As a retired combat veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, I have had the unique experience of serving alongside the RCAF and have a personal appreciation for the sacrifice and bravery that my fellow service people have dedicated to our county over the last 100 years. It is with esteemed pleasure that as a resident and Councillor of BWG, I have this special opportunity to honour the service, bravery, and sacrifices of the RCAF to our great country of Canada.” – Nickolas Harper, Ward 6 Councillor and BWG’s RCAF Centennial Planning Committee Co-Chair
