On Monday, September 18, the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury dedicated a local park in honour of Constable Devon Northrup, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty on October 11, 2022.
Hundreds of people gathered at Constable Devon Northrup Memorial Park, located at 140 Langford Boulevard.
We would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Devon’s family, South Simcoe Police Service, the Town of Innisfil, MP John Brassard’s office, MP Scot Davidson’s office, and to the community of BWG for their presence and support.
October 11th is a day that will always be remembered in the Towns of BWG and Innisfil, as the day we lost two outstanding public service members.
“My hope is that Constable Devon Northrup Memorial Park is a place of happiness, a place of reflection, a place of play and laughter – A tribute that will go down in our local history demonstrating the courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment of Constable Northrup to our community.” – Mayor James Leduc
Below the park’s south entrance, sits a commemorative rock that reads “Badge #229: Worn with Pride and Honour.” This rock is a hand-selected piece of Canadian Red Granite, which signifies strength, longevity, and distinction – the perfect representation of Constable Northrup.
