Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day
October 15, 2024
WHEREAS: October is recognized worldwide, across Canada, and within our province as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month; and
WHEREAS: During the month, we take time to honor and remember those who have lost a child during pregnancy or in infancy; and
WHEREAS: Losing a child in pregnancy or infancy is an unspeakable grief and many are left feeling alone and unsupported. It is our intention to raise awareness and to support those who grieve and to know they do not need to feel alone in their journey of shock and sadness; and
WHEREAS: October 15 is observed with remembrance ceremonies, candlelight vigils and the International Wave of Light where communities across the globe illuminate landmarks, bridges and buildings in pink, blue and purple and where candles are lit at 7 pm to create a wave of light with the different time zones.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council proclaim October 15, 2024, as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
