Police Week
May 12-18, 2024
WHEREAS: Police Week is celebrated as a way for police to connect with their community and increase awareness about the services they provide; and
WHEREAS: Police services across Ontario and Nationwide celebrate Police Week annually, to honour and thank the work that front-line police officers, 9-1-1 communicators, civilian staff, and all members of Ontario police services do to keep Ontarians safe and healthy; and
WHEREAS: The 2024 Provincial campaign theme is Join Policing: Keep Ontario Safe, which highlights policing as a career and public service. The week provides an opportunity to celebrate the important role that our police officers and personnel play in community safety; and
WHEREAS: The South Simcoe Police Service (SSPS) is committed to the safety and well-being of the Towns of Bradford West Gwillimbury and Innisfil – comprised of nearly 72,000 residents; and
WHEREAS: The SSPS’s vision is to make a difference in the lives of those in our community and work together to ensure effective and efficient community safety and well-being – through teamwork, integrity, respect, inclusiveness, courage, professionalism, accountability, compassion; and
WHEREAS: The role and objectives of the SSPS in our community include deterring criminal activity, improving road safety, ensuring critical incident/major event & emergency preparedness, protecting vulnerable members of the community, developing partnerships that focus on prevention, and increasing public education.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council proclaim May 12 to 18, 2024, as Police Week in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
