National Peacekeepers' Day
August 9, 2023

WHEREAS: On August 9, 1974, an aircraft was shot down during peacekeeping duties, ultimately killing all nine personnel on board. WHEREAS: We continue to recognize our home town hero, Sapper Brian Collier, amongst the Canadian soldiers who have lost their lives while serving in Afghanistan. Forever more, may we honour their sacrifice and the sacrifices made by their families and loved ones at home.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council proclaim August 9, 2023, as NATIONAL PEACEKEEPERS’ DAY in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
