WHEREAS: Transitional Aged Youth are both at high risk for life challenges and are underserviced by existing programming; and
WHEREAS: 70% of mental health problems appear during adolescence; and
WHEREAS: We understand the pandemic has been especially difficult for the youth in our community; and
WHEREAS: We value our youth and want to see them succeed in life; and
WHEREAS: Coldest Night of the Year on February 24th is raising funds for Groundwork which is being led by WOW Living. Groundwork is a wrap-around program for individuals aged 15 years and older living in poverty in our community. The program will provide consistent support to individuals by incorporating training, barrier free mental health supports, mentorship, and safe employment opportunities.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council proclaim February 18-24 2024, as COLDEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR WEEK in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
