Slated for its official opening next month, the Town’s New Youth Recreation Centre is thrilled to receive a significant donation of $100,000 from local developer, Ayaz Ahmed, to support accessibility upgrades and furnishings for the Centre.
Ayaz Ahmed is the owner of the future “Bradford Greens” development at 281 Barrie Street. Ahmed plans to transform the former spa property into twenty-seven townhouse units.
"I wanted my investment in BWG to go beyond the limits of my property – I wanted it to impact and be felt across the entire community. I felt it fitting to support the Town’s first dedicated youth centre as I also take on this first venture into the world of property development.” – Ayaz Ahmed, Developer of Bradford Greens
Ahmed and his business partners were accompanied by Council and staff on Tuesday afternoon for a cheque presentation and tour at the Youth Recreation Centre at 226 Colbourne Street.
"We are extremely grateful to Ayaz Ahmed for his generous donation to our new Youth Recreation Centre. This contribution will have a profound impact on the youth of our community, especially those requiring greater accessibility support throughout the new Centre.” – Mayor James Leduc
Although the Youth Recreation Centre currently includes some accessibility features, there are several enhancements which the team would like to investigate and implement.
Councillor Jonathan Scott played a pivotal role in coordinating this donation. "Ayaz’s commitment to corporate responsibility is something we would like to see from all local developers. I thank Ayaz for his generosity and for investing in our Town and our youth. This adds to the investments that have been made throughout the Lions Park property over the last several years.” – Ward 2 Councillor, Jonathan Scott
Although a construction date has not yet been announced, Ahmed is working towards breaking ground at the Bradford Greens development in 2025.
