Children's Mental Health Week
May 6-12, 2024
WHEREAS: Because Mental Health Can’t Wait, raising awareness about the importance of accessing support for mental wellness is crucial for children, youth, their families, and caregivers; and
WHEREAS: Ensuring that everyone in our community knows about the availability of free, accessible, and inclusive youth mental health services, and how to access them, helps to create healthy, thriving and connected communities that support personal growth and wellbeing; and
WHEREAS: Providing early intervention and treatment for child and youth mental health is essential. All children and youth, their families and caregivers in need of mental health support must be able to access fully-funded and accredited services when and where they need them; and
WHEREAS: The colour green is used to celebrate child and youth mental health as it represents hope, growth, and transformation; and
WHEREAS: Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO) is dedicated to increasing public awareness about child and youth mental health and the day-to-day issues faced by children, their families and the professionals with whom they interact.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That His Worship Mayor James Leduc and Members of Council proclaim May 6-12, 2024 as Children’s Mental Health Week in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
