BWG’s Commemorative Park Bench Program allows residents to recognize a special person or organization while contributing to the beauty of the community. It a perfect way of remembering a loved one or a unique gift that keeps on giving to those who enjoy our parks and trails.
How does it work?
If you are interested in donating a park bench, contact BWG’s Parks & Property Division. Every bench includes a personalized engraved message. The bench will be installed in one of the Town's parks or on its network of trails. Town staff will ensure that the bench receives the care and maintenance it deserves for years to come.
For more information on this program, please review the Commemorative Park Bench Donation Program Agreement or get in touch with us.
If you'd like to submit your request for a Commemorative Park Bench Donation, please fill out the below form.
- To purchase the bench and plaque for dedication, complete the form, make payment to the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury by cheque, debit or credit card and submit it to the address listed at the bottom of this form for park/cemetery location confirmation and approval.
- Staff will contact you to verify the location of the bench. Not all park/cemetery areas are suitable for dedication bench placement; however, every effort will be made to try to accommodate the request of the contributor. The Town reserves the right to determine and limit the locations of a bench.
- Benches with a plaque will be installed by the Town staff in the designated area and will be located to coincide with the general scheme for the park/cemetery.
- The dedication will be recognized for the duration of the current park design, which is typically up to 30 years. Please note that this date is limited to the park and not the bench.
- Staff shall contact the contributor once the bench has been installed. Benches will only be installed from May to November as this is the frost-free period.
- Parks staff shall be responsible for the maintenance of the bench in the same manner as other park/cemetery benches. In the event that the dedication bench and plaque is damaged or destroyed, the city shall be responsible for the replacement.
- Placement of wreaths, flowers or other items are not permitted and will be removed.
