An outdoor wood burning appliance is portable or fixed in place, manufactured of non-combustible materials, which contains a chamber located within the firebox of the appliance used to contain a combustion flame, a stack to control the flow of air or combustion gasses from the appliance, a spark arrester located at the end of the stack to control disbursement of sparks and is enclosed on all sides to arrest sparks. The container may also be designed to hold a small fire for decorative purposes and may include, but is not limited to chimineas and outdoor fireplaces. The use of this appliance requires a permit. The following must be considered prior to applying for your permit:
- Must be a minimum of 16 feet from all property lines, fences, structures, trees/hedges and overhead wires
- Must be a minimum of 10 feet from all overhanging vegetation
- Must be a minimum of 6 feet from combustible material
- Size of burn must be contained to a maximum of 2 feet (length, width, height)
- Permitted between the hours of sunrise and 11:59 pm.
- Must be placed on non-combustible surface
- Only clean wood and paper can be burned
- Means of extinguishment must be on site
Annual Permit Fee: $10.00 (expires December 31st of the year purchased)
