Next week marks the fourth week that our Library workers are on strike. I understand and apologize for the impacts this strike and the library closure have caused our community. I am disappointed that a resolution has not yet been reached, and I plea to both parties – return to the bargaining table so that our Library can reopen its doors to the community. Our residents deserve to have their Library back.

Road Closure Notice
WHEN: Tuesday, August 15 to Friday, October 13, 2023
This notice is to advise essential services of an upcoming road closure required for development related servicing and road reconstruction of Danube Lane, which will impact one of the entrances to the Danube Seniors Leisure Centre.
From August 15 to October 13 a section Danube Lane from Simcoe Road will be closed. Access to the Danube Seniors Leisure Centre will still be available from Simcoe Road adjacent to Golfview Blvd.

National Peacekeepers' Day August 9, 2023
WHEREAS: We raise the United Nations flag on behalf of the past, present and future peacekeepers residing in Central Ontario; and
WHEREAS: On August 9, 1974, an aircraft was shot down during peacekeeping duties, ultimately killing all nine personnel on board. It was and still is the largest loss of Canadian Peacekeepers in a single day. Cpl B.K. Stringer and Warrant Officer C.B. Korejwo were two soldiers from this area that made the supreme sacrifice; and
Statement Update From BWG Council Regarding Union Library Workers on Strike

Mayor Leduc and Members of Council appreciate the comments and concerns that have been expressed regarding the ongoing strike of library staff. The Library Board has provided this update to the community, explaining their position on the state of bargaining prior to the commencement of the strike. Council remains confident that the Library Board and CUPE 905 will return to the bargaining table in the near future and arrive at an agreement that works for our staff and taxpayers.
